InfoPlus® Online Aggregate Bandwidth Tool Now Available
August 27, 2011
As more organizations are considering implementing SIP networks, InfoPlus saw an emerging need it could satisfy. An important and missing datapoint needed to both design and cost justify a proposed SIP implementation is a determination of the bandwidth requirements SIP-based voice traffic would impart on network facilities. So we've launched a new web-based tool that uses as its data set, a recent InfoPlus Traffic Study.
The web tool allows users to select the individual sources of anticipated VoIP traffic, along with a few additional parameters, such as codec. Using the selected parameters, we then calculate and specify the IP bandwidth requirements of the combined traffic. The results of these dynamic, “what-if” analyses facilitate understanding of the IP bandwidth requirements for a planned migration from TDM to VoIP. The service can now be added to the standard InfoPlus Traffic Study for Avaya and Heritage Nortel.
